Eff You, Gwyneth Paltrow!

Hate? I wish...

I don't hate Gwyneth Paltrow. Hating celebrities is easy and requires little to no energy; they do or say something stupid, make you hate them, and never do anything to change your opinion of them (I’m talking to you, Heidi Montag). I WISH I could hate Gwyneth, with her perfect hair, flawless skin, undeserved Oscar, rock star hubby, silly lifestyle newsletter and sanctimonious 'tude. But when it comes to Gwynnie, it’s something more to it than that. It’s not just hate. It’s respect-hate. I just can’t help but feel begrudging admiration peeking out from underneath my layers and layers of loathing. She brags about her custom-made, monogrammed Louis Vuitton luggage in GOOP (hate!), and then turns around and announces that she’s a lush who’ll drink anything (still hate, but also the gnawing acknowledgement that I kind of want to go drinking with her). I’m left feeling more conflicted than that time I accidentally laughed at something John Mayer said. Which is why whenever Gwyneth Paltrow comes up (which happens surprisingly frequently), the conversation always ends with a head shake and a resigned, sighed "Eff you, Gwyneth Paltrow!"
